Among the many new norms experienced living in a COVID-19 world, transportation is one that has been notably impacted by the stay-at-home mandate as well as by the reopening of southern California. Tune in for this Future Forward webinar on transportation as we discuss the short-and-long-term implications of COVID-19 on transportation trends.

Event Details:

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on all aspects of life, including daily travel. Since March, Riverside County has seen a significant reduction in travel overall because of the impacts of COVID-19. Please join us for a discussion with Jerry Walters, Principal and Co-Founder of Fehr & Peers, as we discuss near-term and long-term transportation impacts from COVID-19.

Some specific topics of discussion will include:

  • What are the immediate impacts of COVID-19 on travel, including both personal vehicles and public transit?
  • What is the likely near-term and long-term impacts of COVID-19 on our daily travel, both national and in the Western Riverside County?
  • Is telecommuting here to stay?
  • Might Western Riverside County residents finally say good-bye to 2-hour commutes?
  • How will COVID-19 affect freight and delivery travel?
  • Could travel behavior changes due to COVID-19 drive changes in land development in Western Riverside County?
  • How will COVID-19 impact emerging travel modes like autonomous cars and transportation network companies?
  • What are the effects of COVID-19 on shared mobility like public transit and carpooling?
  • How with these changes in travel behavior impact the need for new transportation facilities?
